The “next step” is taken by SKY express, as it decided to procure even larger aircraft. After the Airbus A320, the company is going to receive 2 Airbus A321 in 2023, as a result of the “expansion policy” that follows.

In total, this summer, the company will operate with 21 aircraft, with nine Airbus A320 and 12 ATR, “climbing” in second place, in market share, at Athens airport.

The presentation of the summer season program, which took place on Friday night, was also attended by the President of the IOGR Group, Giannis Grylos, to whom SKY express belongs, expressing his optimism for this year’s tourist season, despite the existence of specific uncertainties.

“The summer is predicted to be excellent. However, there are three basic conditions that are also the basic risks”, Mr. Grylos underlined.

“First, there are geopolitical uncertainties compared to neighboring Turkey. Second, a share of the Greek tourism market, in an effort to cover losses due to high energy costs and accuracy, may sell more expensively, and third, European consumers due to rising prices. , he may not travel “, said, among others, the President of the IOGR Group.

However, as mentioned above, the bookings show great dynamics for this summer and in fact, in some destinations, such as Paros, Naxos and Milos, the occupancy of SKY express aircraft, as claimed, is close to 90%, but also alternative destinations. , as Astypalea show an increase of 60%, compared to May 2019.

Overall, in May, the occupancy of SKY express aircraft was over 72%.

In general, for the aviation sector, Mr. Grylos expressed his concern regarding the delays and cancellations of flights at major European airports, due to staff shortages, which – in some cases – may affect Greece as well.
