Sky goes out of its way: the new channels and the new offer, from the return of the “Testimone” to the Gabriele Muccino series

It was since 2014 that Sky has not launched a channel that was not limited in time, and it is for this reason that it is not surprising the expectation that accompanies the new spearheads of the satellite’s offer which, from 1 July, will host four new channels and Sky brands available for all subscribers: Sky Serie, Sky Investigation, Sky Documentaries e Sky Nature. They will all be in high definition and usable on demand, reinforcing programming that focuses on Italian and foreign productions of the highest level, keeping the flag of quality and attention to detail high.

In sight of this, Sky Series (from 1 July at position 112), as well as reviving timeless classics such as Sex and the City e Dr. House – Medical Division, bet on brand new products like Give me back my wife, the new series produced by Sky with Colorado Film directed by Alessandro Genovesi, adaptation of the English sitcom I Want My Wife Back. The main character is Fabio De Luigi, that we will see in the role of Giovanni, a man left by his wife after many years of marriage and now ready to put his life back on its feet together with a cast that goes from Diego Abatantuono to Carla Signoris, from Diana Del Bufalo to Anita Caprioli.

The 8-episode series, inspired by the film of the same name also directed by Muccino, tells the life of the Ristuccia family, owner of one of the most renowned restaurants in Rome. Along with a stellar cast that counts, among others, Laura Morante, Silvia D’Amico, Emma Marrone, Simone Liberati and Francesco Scianna, the series will enter the very fragile equilibrium of a family that tries to stand up between secrets and resentment. On the international front, the highly anticipated HBO miniseries will inaugurate the Sky Series programming on July 1 The flight attendant, a dark comedy starring Cassie (the star of Big Bang Theory Kaley Cuoco), a stewardess who spends the night in Bangkok with a passenger on her flight and who, the next morning, will wake up in the wrong hotel, in the wrong bed, next to the man’s dead body, with no idea what it is success. The offer continues with The Luminaries – Destiny in the stars (from 7 July), the costume series with Eva Green, Eve Hewson and Himesh Patel set in New Zealand in 1865, in the midst of the gold rush; First aid (from 10 July), a new medical drama coming from Sweden; Beechaam House (from 28 July), the new period drama created, written and directed by the famous British director of Indian origins Gurinder Chadha (Sognando Beckham); Belgravia, the new series conceived by the creator of Downton Abbey Julian Fellowes set amid the intrigues and scandals of 19th century British society; is Transplant, a medical drama that has its roots in a contemporary history of immigration.

The second channel to enrich the Sky offer is Sky Investigation (from 1 July to channel 114), renamed «the house of crime», with dozens of titles, from thriller to noir, from detective stories to scientific detective, to satisfy all tastes. The catalog, in addition to the lucky ones Without a trace, NCIS ed Elementary, also proposes: Coroner (from July 2), Canadian series starring Serinda Swan as Jenny Cooper, a recently widowed Toronto coroner; Bulletproof (from July 4), centering on the odd couple formed by National Crime Agency detectives Ronnie Pike (Ashley Walters) and Aaron “Bish” Bishop (Noel Clarke); Family lawyers (from 6 July), the legal drama starring Victor Garber at the head of an extended family and a law firm specializing in family law; The executioner (from July 8), an action-tinged crime drama starring the legend Éric Cantona as a rough-and-tumble former detective who comes to solve cases that the state lets slip out of his hands; is The Equalizer, the new crime drama starring Queen Latifah which is a remake of the 1980s series of the same name that had already inspired the film with Denzel Washington.

However, it is not over here, since Sky has also decided to invest in the world of factual entertainment with Sky Documentaries (from 1 July to channels 122 and 402), which will offer various exclusive contents related to the telling of stories destined to change the world. We start with the ninth edition of The witness (from 1 July), the successful format of Pif produced by Wildside that reaches a new level of maturity, managing to deal with both civil and committed issues and to explore lighter worlds. Despite having to face the restrictions of the moment, Pif does not lose his gaze and decides to inaugurate this new series of episodes by dedicating himself to the story of Jules Regeni, which will return a more personal portrait of the Friulian researcher; continue with Allen v. Farrow, the controversial HBO docu-series that traces the story of the sex scandal in which Woody Allen was involved; with Hillary, an extraordinarily intimate portrait of Hillary Clinton; with Tiger Woods (from July 13), the HBO documentary chronicling the life and career of the youngest player to win the Masters; with Dangerous Old People, an original Sky production by Indigo that tells what killers, robbers and small and big criminals do after serving their sentences in prison; Stiletto Murders, the documentary directed by Nina Maria Paschalidou and produced by Forest Troop, Ladoc and Sky which investigates the wave of femicides in Italy; Bruno v Tyson, the story of Mike Tyson and Frank Bruno, “two sides of the same coin”; and finally, Steve McQueen – The Lost Movie, dedicated to the F1 movie that McQueen dropped mid-shoot. They were also announced during the press conference to present the channel SIC, working title of an original Sky documentary produced by Fremantle, Mowe and Sky dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the death of Marco Simoncelli; is Sarah – The Girl from Avetrana, a Greenland production directed by Christian Letruria dedicated to the murder of Sarah Scazzi.

The latest channel of the Sky offer is Sky Nature (from 1 July on channels 124 and 404), which opens a window on the world of nature with spectacular programming. In addition to the best of international documentaries and environmental reports, Sky Nature will be a magnifying glass on environmental protection, which has always been one of the main values ​​of the Sky group, active at the forefront through concrete projects to promote responsible business such as countryside Sky Zero. Among the contents, the channel will be inaugurated Greta Thunberg – A year to save the world (from 4 July), a BBC docu-series that followed Greta between 2019 and 2020; Why we eat animals (from 22 July), the documentary based on the essay by Jonathan Safran Foer and produced by Natalie Portman which paints a future in which traditional agriculture is the only way forward to guarantee the survival of the planet; The enchanted life, an original Sky production by Apnea Film that illustrates the incredible beauty of the Val Grande; Now (from 25 July), which tells, also thanks to interviews with personalities such as Patty Smith and Wim Wenders, who are the young activists of today; David Attenborough – First Live (from 5 July), which follows the umpteenth adventure of the legendary Sir Attenborough; Map to heaven, which helps us to maintain a sense of respect and wonder towards a beauty that is still possible; Kiribati – Paradise lost, which tells the incredible story of the island of Kiribati, submerged by the sea; and finally, The last igloo, a documentary about a man who lives in Greenland following the traditional Inuit lifestyle. To these titles are added: a concert linked to environmental issues organized in collaboration with the Teatro La Fenice; an original Sky production titled The Marsican bear, created in collaboration with the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise; and a new original Sky production dedicated to the environment with the singer-songwriter Francesca Michielin.
