An American woman who was meant to be the first person to use the controversial Sarco “suicide capsule” in Switzerland has hit back, accusing the company that made it of “pain-killing” and exploiting it for publicity, as well as trying to to take her savings. The 55-year-old, who goes by the pseudonym Jessica Campbell, made the allegations against the group that manages the capsule, Last Resort, a subsidiary of Switzerland’s Exit International, in a letter she wrote sometime before her assisted suicide with another company in July. as reported by the Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung. Her accusations resurfaced after Swiss police arrested four people on Tuesday after it emerged that the Sarco capsule had been used for the first time to help a 64-year-old American woman die.
