According to the latest data collected from a study based on searches carried out in Google during the pandemic, in the first 5 months of 2020 2.77 million researches on the topic of insomnia. The study, published in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, shows a 58% increase over the same period in 2019.

The investigation revealed that the lockdown significantly affected the sleep pattern. This was stated on 53% of the interviewees highlighting that, in 76% of cases, it was a negative influence.

Even working from home, although it was an opportunity for many, meant that Italians fell asleep and woke up an hour later than their usual habits. Sedentary lifestyle has increased and physical activity has decreased, also understood as simple movement for daily commuting. All of this has had considerable repercussions on the health – both physical and mental – of most of us.

For several years now, however, we have fortunately been increasingly aware of the importance of taking care of our health at 360 degrees and, consequently, we know that sleeping little and badly is not good, far from it.

The risks of insomnia are numerous and concern different aspects – the problem is not only those anti-aesthetic bags under the eyes that we find ourselves in the morning – from mood disorders to repercussions on cardiovascular health, without underestimating a poor ability to concentrate.

So much is important sleep well, to feel good, that an International Day of Sleep has also been established (celebrated every year on March 13) to raise awareness of the ailments involving 45% of the world population. In addition to the classic tips – light dinners, smartphones turned off, room temperature around 18 ° and a good one herbal tea before bed – many spas and wellness centers have devised specific rituals and treatments to facilitate the night rest of their guests.
