A sloth was rescued after being found clinging to the back of a truck from a construction materials store in the city of Guarujá, on the coast of São Paulo, last Monday (25).
The animal was spotted in the rear of the vehicle by the establishment’s storekeeper, who placed it inside an empty water tank until the Environmental Defense Group (GDA), of the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM), arrived to rescue it.
According to Guarujá City Hall, agents found that the mammal was an adult male and was in good health. After the rescue, he was released into a forested area located in Morro do Icanhema.
