Dozens of people were injured in a train collision between a train and a passenger train on Friday in Slovakia, local police said.
The accident took place on the Brukti-Varin line in the Zilina area, about 220 kilometers north of Bratislava, Zilina regional police spokeswoman Gabriela Kremenova told AFP today.
“Rescuers treated 74 people. 34 of them, including four seriously injured, are being treated,” Kremenova said. The material damage is estimated at two million euros, he added.
A post-traumatic psychological support unit also went to the scene of the accident.
An investigation into the cause of the accident has been launched and life-threatening charges have been filed, Slovak police said on their Facebook page.
