Slovakia: Robert Ficho resumes duties after assassination attempt

Robert Fico, who survived an assassination attempt, announced today that he has resumed his duties as Slovakia’s prime minister The 59-year-old was shot four times at close range after a cabinet meeting in a central Slovakian town. He had to undergo two long surgeries. After this attempt, the alleged perpetrator, poet Yurai Tsintula, 71, was charged with a terrorist attack and remanded in custody. Fico was discharged from hospital on May 31 and made his first public appearance last Friday, at an event in Bratislava.
