SK hynix Inc. announced the release of the world’s fastest mobile RAM – the new standard was called LPDDR5T, where the letter “T” stands for Turbo and emphasizes unprecedented speed.
The speed of LPDDR5T reaches 9.6 Gb / s, that is, the new standard is 13% faster than the previous one in the face of LPDDR5X (which was introduced as recently as November 2022). SK hynix Inc. emphasizes that LPDDR5T has not become a new (eighth) generation technology, but is a refinement of the existing one. In addition to the record speed, the new standard is also distinguished by ultra-low power consumption, since it operates at a voltage of 1.01 to 1.12 volts.
The manufacturer has already given samples of LPDDR5T RAM to its partners in the form of a multi-component chipset (several modules are combined together) with a total volume of 16 GB – such a module can process 77 GB of data per second, which is equivalent to transferring fifteen Full HD movies in one second.
Mass production on the 10 nm process technology is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2023.
