The operator MTS has published interesting statistics. According to analysts, in 2020, Russians began to choose more autonomous smartphones.

The average battery capacity of mobile gadgets in 2020 increased by 21% to 3987 mAh compared to 2019. Over the past five years, the battery capacity of mobile devices has increased by 70%. In 2015, an average of 2315 mAh batteries were used.
The operator explains such a passion for increased mAh among Russian users by the growth of traffic and the time spent watching content. In response to changing user behavior, gadget manufacturers have begun installing larger batteries.
The increase in battery capacity has led to a reversal of the trend towards thin devices for the first time in five years. 2020 models have become 6% thicker than 2019 devices, and the average thickness of modern smartphones is very close to the gadgets of 2015 – 8.5 mm. The average weight of smartphones for the year increased by 7% to 176 grams – a record figure in the entire history of modern smartphones. Five years ago, mobile devices were 22% lighter than they are now.
The only exception was Apple, which did not support both trends. 2020 smartphones received an average of 10% less battery capacity and are 11% thinner than the 2019 iPhone line.
