Smartphones OPPO have learned to find hidden cameras in the room

OPPO users can now use their smartphones to detect hidden cameras in a room. The new feature, which appeared in the OPPO Color OS proprietary firmware, will appeal primarily to those who travel frequently and want to be sure that spy cameras are not installed in the hotel room. In the same way, any other room can be checked for hidden cameras, for example, a fitting room in a shopping center or a locker room in a gym.

So far, the new feature is only available on the new flagship smartphones OPPO Find X5 and Find X5 Pro with Color OS 12.1 interface on board. But the manufacturer promises that soon this option will appear on other mobile devices of the brand.

To check a room for hidden cameras, users need to download a program called Hidden Camera Detection from the OPPO branded app store. After installing and running the program, you will need to disable Wi-Fi and the access point on your smartphone, if they were enabled. Also, to scan the room, it will be proposed to alternately turn on and off the lighting to detect infrared radiation, which is used by many cameras for night shooting. If the smartphone detects a hidden camera in the room, then when approaching it, the application will give a signal and users can easily find the hidden device.

So far, OPPO’s new hidden camera app only works in China. Whether the option is compatible with global versions of OPPO’s new flagships remains to be seen.
