The Chinese company SmartSens Technology announced the release of the SC450AI image sensor, which has joined the Advanced Imaging (AI) lineup launched last year with the SC200AI model.
According to the manufacturer, the SC450AI image sensor is designed for all-weather CCTV cameras designed for continuous operation in a wide temperature range, with built-in artificial intelligence, as well as for wearable cameras, IP cameras and other similar devices.

The 1 / 1.8-inch optical format sensor has a resolution of 4 megapixels. The pixel size is 2.9 microns. The advantages of the sensor include high light sensitivity and increased signal-to-noise ratio, provided by the use of backlight technology and proprietary technologies SFCPixel and PixGain. The SC450AI is said to outperform other similar products by 73% in signal-to-noise ratio, and 3.7 times in light sensitivity. This expands the sensor’s capabilities when shooting in the dark. At the same time, the use of multiple exposure in combination with PixGain technology in the daytime helped to expand the dynamic range compared to other similar sensors by 6 dB.
Preview samples of the SC450AI are now available.
