Many were expecting something out of the ordinary from Black Shark and its new Black Shark 4 gaming smartphones, and the company did not disappoint. World’s best sound (according to DxOMark tests), magnetically actuated slide-out keys with 10x lifespan (1 million keystrokes claimed), and perhaps most interesting – a first for a smartphone with a hybrid storage subsystem: with UFS flash memory 3.1 and … SSD!
This unique array of RAID level 0 has resulted in 69% faster read and write speeds over conventional flash memory. Therefore, games on Black Shark 4 load faster and install faster.
Along with the UFS 3.1 flash memory, the new items received LPDDR5 RAM: in the base model it operates at a speed of 5500 Mbit / s, and in the Black Shark 4 Pro – at a speed of 6400 Mbit / s. The Black Shark 4 Pro model uses the Snapdragon 888 SoC, the base Black Shark 4 uses the Snapdragon 870. The smartphones received a thoroughly redesigned sandwich-type cooling system with two heat pipes and graphite sheets between them. According to the developers, this approach reduced the heating of the SoC by 18% compared to a conventional cooling system.
The smartphones are equipped with 6.67-inch Samsung AMOLED E4 screens with a peak brightness of 1300 cd / m2, a frame rate of 144 Hz and a 720 Hz touch layer response time with multiple taps. Also used technologies DC Dimming (it eliminates screen flicker at minimum brightness) and MEMC (to dynamically compensate for the image quality on the display).
The front camera with a 20 megapixel sensor is embedded in the center of the display, and the fingerprint scanner is located on the side.
Smartphones have got triple cameras. The Black Shark 4 Pro uses 64-megapixel (Sony IMX686), 8-megapixel (ultra-wide-angle) and 5 megapixel (macro) sensors. The Black Shark 4 camera differs only in the main sensor – this is Sony IMX582 with a resolution of 48 megapixels.
Both models in the series support 120W ultra-fast charging, making the regular Black Shark 4 the first model in the world to support this fast charging. This technology allows you to charge the batteries inside the Black Shark 4 Pro (there are two of them) with a total capacity of 4500 mAh in just 14 minutes and 50 seconds! Black Shark 4 charges slightly slower – in 16 minutes. Black Shark 4 supports Wi-Fi 6 and Black Shark 4 Pro supports Wi-Fi 6E. A multifunctional NFC adapter is provided on both models. The smartphones run Android 11 with Joy UI 12.5.
