Soilou: The conversion of Hagia Sophia into a mosque was only the beginning – Our gas in the East. Mediterranean

Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu once again spoke in anti-Western tones, with reports on both Hagia Sophia and energy in the Eastern Mediterranean.

A close aide to President Tayyip Erdogan, according to the SKAI correspondent in Istanbul, threatened that turning Hagia Sophia into a mosque was “just the beginning”, stressing that Turkey was not afraid of the West.

“Because they said you can not do it, we reopened the closed Varosia in Cyprus, with the will of our president. Do you know what we did when they were busy with the pandemic? We turned Hagia Sophia into a mosque, something they kept over our heads “For years like Damocles Swords, threatening us with a disturbance of peace and swearing not to let us turn it. I say this so that they understand and be ready for what we have to do,” said the Turkish minister.

He also referred to the Eastern Mediterranean and the exploitation of natural gas, noting that the latter “belongs to Turkey”.

“Let the United States deal with us, as well as Europe. We have taken such a step without fear of anyone in the world, we have shown our strength and we have said that if there is gas in the Eastern Mediterranean, then we are the owners,” he said.
