Block production on the Solana network stopped for 6 hours. To restore the network, the developers asked the validators to restart the blockchain.
To do this, they published instructions and asked the validators to update the software. Later developers reportedthat the Solana network has restarted, and the blockchain will soon be restored. Decentralized applications and network operators will also be restored.
The reason for the Solana network outage is not yet known. However, this is not the first such failure. A similar outage occurred in early May, when the developers announced a significant increase in the number of transactions in the blockchain, which led to network congestion. Of course, such failures are not very popular with users:
“Solana’s stability is just a joke. Guys, this problem needs to be solved. It shouldn’t be hard and crashes shouldn’t happen over and over again. You’re just killing confidence in yourself.” wrote one of the Twitter users.
At the beginning of the year, FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried said he considered Solana to be the best blockchain, despite increasing network outages, which he described as “collateral inconveniences.”
