Solana developers intend to solve problem with transactions failing on April 15, 2024. At the same time, the team noted that the date of implementation of the fixes may be postponed during testing of the upcoming update.
Last month, some Solana users began complaining about network outages. They faced an increase in errors during transactions. Over time, the problem gained momentum and between April 4 and April 5, 2024, about 77% of all transactions of this type were not completed.
A number of analysts noted that the increasing frequency of failures is due to increased user activity amid the memcoin rally. Fantom Foundation co-founder Andre Cronje supported the developers and said that the cause of the problem lies in the increased demand for blockchain.
An active supporter of Solana and CEO of the Helius project, Mert Mumtaz, published a post on the social network X (formerly Twitter), in which he talked about the preparation of a patch with the update. According to him, the team has already discovered the “bottleneck” of the network.
We are talking about the implementation of the QUIC data transfer protocol, responsible for informing all nodes about the current state of the blockchain. However, Mumtaz noted that the problem is not a design flaw of the Solana. He described it as an unsuccessful implementation of a separate part of the project.
Apart from this, Mumtaz noted that Solana suffers from other problems. Among them, he included economic factors that must be taken into account in the long term. However, the issue of QUIC implementation comes first and should be resolved soon, Mumtaz emphasized.
