The Brazilian photovoltaic solar source generator park should grow 10 gigawatts (GW) in 2023, or 42.4% compared to the estimated solar power for the closing of 2022, reaching more than 34 GW, according to estimates released by the sectoral association Absolar this Wednesday. fair (7).
Of the 34 GW, the entity estimates that 21.6 GW will come from small and medium-sized solar systems installed by consumers in homes, small businesses, rural properties and public buildings. These installations, classified as “distributed generation”, should add up to 23.87 GW by the end of this year.
The remaining power, 12.4 GW, will be concentrated in large solar plants, or “centralized generation”, which should close 2022 with 7.77 GW.
Absolar also projected that, in 2023, the renewable source should generate more than 300,000 new jobs, and new investments in the sector could exceed the figure of 50 billion reais.
According to Absolar, the projections were made based on a conservative scenario, considering macroeconomic factors, changes in federal and state governments, effects of energy policies and possible consequences of the modernization of the electricity sector, among others.
“We project a consistent growth in solar energy in 2023, driven by increases in the electricity bill and the benefits provided by the source to all Brazilian consumers,” said Ronaldo Koloszuk, chairman of the board of directors of Absolar, in a note.
