Solo-Mainer got a bitcoin block

A single miner got a bitcoin block and earned almost $ 350 thousand for it. The likelihood of such an event was estimated at once in eight years, writes RBC Crypto.

About midnight from July 3 to 4, the miner added to the blockchain of the first cryptocurrency block No. 903883, according to the Bitcoin membrail. Loner worked through the pool of CKPool. The organizer of the platform for solo-major, Kon Colivas congratulated the lucky one and said that it was the 301st block, obtained in this pool.

CKPool is a solo-mining service. Unlike traditional pools, where participants combine capacities and divide the award, CKPool does not redistribute computing resources: miners work independently, and only the one who will be the first to find the block receives a reward. The pool charges the technical support commission and the quick inclusion of the block in the bitcoin network. The success of its users depends only on the power of their equipment (hashRate) – the more attempts, the higher the probability. Even weak devices can theoretically get a block, but the probability is extremely small. At the same time, in the context of the work of this “single miner” pool does not mean a miner with one device, it can be a whole data center with a large number of powerful devices.

According to Colivas, the capacity of the solo-master was 2.3 ph/s (petahs per second). Usually the hashReite of each device is measured in Th/S (terachesh per second). 2.3 pH/S = 2300 Th/S. This is about ten rather modern “ASIKs”, such as Bitmain Antminer S21+ (235 Th/S) or Whatsminer M61S (230 Th/S).

In the discussion of the news, users suggested that the miner could rent capacities. But colivas said that the participant in the pool has long been producing bitcoins on equipment with such a hashReit, and, according to his estimates, a loner really uses about 10 ASIKs.

According to Colivas, the chances of this miner for the production of the unit with such capacity of the equipment were 1 to 2800, or on average at eight years.

In total, Solo-Mainer received 3.173 BTC ($ 348.9 thousand). Of these, the remuneration for the block amounted to standard 3.125 BTC ($ 343.7 thousand), and 0.048 BTC ($ 5.2 thousand) was on the commission for transactions included in the block.

In July 2024, a single -man got a bitcoin block with a 3 Th/s equipment with a capacity of 3. His chances of finding a block then amounted to 1 to 1.2 million, or on average once every 3500 years.
