Her chancellor Germany, Olaf Solzhad a telephone conversation with its president today (1/11). Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoganthe German government announced.
According to government spokesman Stephen Hembestright, the two leaders “they exchanged views” on a number of issues, while Mr. Soltz “praised Turkey’s commitment to continue Ukraine’s grain exports through the Black Sea Initiative”.
“The chancellor categorically rejected Russia’s accusations that Ukraine was preparing to use the so-called ‘dirty bomb.’ Chancellor and Turkish president agree Russia’s nuclear rhetoric is irresponsible”Mr. Hempstreit concluded.
Earlier, the Turkish side claimed that Recep Tayyip Erdogan asked Olaf Scholz for Germany to return to a neutral position, as far as Greek-Turkish relations are concerned.
The reason for the Turkish president’s specific statement to the German chancellor was the latter’s recent visit to Greece, where, among other things, he referred to Turkish provocation.
At the same time, Erdogan emphasized to the German leader that the Ankara-EU dialogue, negotiations on updating the Customs Union and talks on Turkey’s EU accession should be restarted.
He also asserted that he attaches “special importance” to close dialogue with Solz to strengthen bilateral relations in every field and that this dialogue will help revitalize Turkey’s EU accession process.
