Somalia: 20 killed in car bomb blast outside restaurant

At least 20 people have been killed and 30 others injured in a car bomb blast outside a restaurant near the port of Mogadishu. Somalia. The incident happened late Friday night (05/03), as reported by an official of the country’s rescue services.

Eyewitnesses, but also the state media, reported that after explosion A thick cloud of smoke rose in the sky, and shots were heard.

“So far 20 dead and 30 injured have been transported from the site of the explosion,” said Dr. Abdulkarim Aden, the founder of the AAMIN ambulance service, speaking to Reuters and as broadcast by the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency.

The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a restaurant near the port of Loul Yemen.

“A speeding car exploded in Lual Yemeni. “I was heading to the restaurant, but I turned around when the explosion happened and everything was covered in smoke,” said Ahmed Abdullahi, a local resident.

Mogadishu state radio reported that property had also been damaged and that police had cordoned off the area.
