Some LG smartphones are lucky enough to get Android 12 update even after mobile division closes

LG has officially confirmed today that it will gradually close its smartphone business. However, some of the company’s smartphones will receive planned updates not only to Android 11, but also to Android 12.

According to LG, the closure of the mobile division will be completed by July 31 this year. In a press release, LG said it “will provide service support and software updates to customers for existing mobile products, and the time period will vary from region to region.”

LG has said it will continue to roll out Android 11 operating system updates for certain models following its previous announcement. LG has already unveiled Android 11 updates for several smartphone models, including the LG Velvet, V60 ThinQ and the most recent G7 One. Other phones expected to be updated later this year include the LG G8X, G8S, Velvet 4G, Wing, K52 and K42.
