Earlier this week, Apple held a conference call at which the company unveiled several products, including a new iPad Pro tablet and an all-in-one iMac based on the Apple M1 SoC. The company previously released the M1-based MacBook. After the last conference, rumors began to circulate that Apple, using the same platforms on different devices, plans to merge the iPad and Mac lines.

Apple’s senior vice president of global marketing Greg Joswiak and senior vice president of hardware development John Ternus commented on the rumors. According to them, there are no plans to merge the two product lines. These devices are designed for different people and different markets. So it doesn’t make sense for Apple to combine the two.

John Ternus also answered the question, if Apple does not plan to merge the Mac and iPad lines, then why did the company use the Apple M1 in the iPad: “We always set the iPad to the best platform. The high performance of the M1 allows developers to create more modern software. ”

So if someone had thoughts about a possible merger of the iPad and Mac lines, then you can forget about it.
