A 19-year-old young man, identified as Alex Barbosa Fernandes de Oliveira, was killed by his own father while defending his mother from domestic attacks. The crime occurred last Monday (7) in Gurupi (TO), approximately 215 kilometers from Palmas.
According to the police, the victim was returning from the police station with his mother after she requested a protective measure against his father, identified as Ronaldo Fernandes de Oliveira, 42 years old. When the boy arrived home, the man began attacking and threatening the victim’s wife – mother. The young man intervened to help her when he was attacked by his father with a stab wound to the chest.
According to the Military Police, on the same night as the crime, a vehicle was called to respond to an incident of domestic violence at the residence, which was a location already known to the police for previous episodes of domestic violence. The mother, a 40-year-old woman, was taken to the police station to register the incident and request a protective measure.
Upon returning home, the woman told Ronaldo that the relationship between them was over and asked him to leave. The man then allegedly threatened the woman. The son tried to defend his mother and was attacked by his father.
Police say the woman also reported that the suspect frequently threatened to kill the young man, as he suspected he was not her biological son.
Ronaldo Fernandes de Oliveira fled the scene. The following day, he was found dead. The suspicion is that he committed suicide.
