Bruno Fagundes, son of Antonio Fagundes, reported that he spent his life being pressured to hide his sexuality due to the pressure he experienced from the industry.
In an interview with the Cara a Cara podcast, the actor said that, because he was the son of a famous person, he was coerced by advisors and agents to “be part of this system”.
“This is absurd violence. I lived at a time in my life, at 19 years old, when I tried at all costs to be straight. Because I was so pressured and scared of failing. People told me, ‘You’re going to fail being gay.’”
Bruno said that this pressure made him sink into drugs. “It was the darkest time of my life. A time when I was absolutely immersed in drugs, at a deadly, very heavy level. I don’t even know if my parents know about this,” he reported.
The actor says that the public gaze on him left him a little stunned and that he considers the social pressure he experienced as “veiled homophobia”.
Fagundes is dating Igor Fernandez, also an actor, and they have been together since the beginning of recording the soap opera “Cara e Coragem”.
