Song Joong Ki, actor of “Renascendo Rico”, sends a message to Brazilian fans

“Questo edificio è mine!”🇧🇷 This phrase, performed by Song Joong Ki in the Netflix drama “Vincenzo”, has become iconic. But the South Korean actor won the hearts of international fans in other productions as well, such as “Descendants of the Sun” and, now, in his most recent work, “Reborn Rich”.

If you’re into fantasy and revenge stories, “Reborn Rich” has both. In the plot, Song Joong Ki plays a loyal and dedicated secretary who works for the Jin family, owner of a commercial empire, until he is betrayed by the family and ends up murdered. He is miraculously brought back to life when he wakes up inside the body of the youngest member of the family. He then begins to plan his revenge.

It is worth saying that the drama, which is currently being shown every week, has already become the most watched of 2022 in South Korea. According to Nielsen Korea, it even surpassed the success of “An Extraordinary Lawyer”, a darling that introduced many foreigners to South Korean productions. In Brazil, “Renascendo Rico” is distributed by streaming Viki, which has an entirely Asian catalogue.

In an exclusive interview with CNN Brasil, Song Joong Ki commented on what attracted him to this project, sent a message to Brazilian fans and reflected on his 14-year career. Check out:

Have you noticed the size of Brazilian fans you have?

I am amazed and very grateful every time I hear about Brazilian fans taking an interest in me after watching my dramas. Thanks again for the support and warm messages from far and wide. I am very curious to know about the reviews of “Renascendo Rico” in Brazil. I worked hard on filming. Please show lots of love for “Reborn Rich”.

It’s been two years since you starred in “Vincenzo”, which was very successful all over the world. Now you’re back on TV with “Renascendo Rico”. What attracted you to this story?

I found it interesting that the character Yoon Hyun Woo returns to the past with all his memories intact. A story that wouldn’t happen in real life unfolds in the drama, which I found interesting and entertaining.

In this drama, you play two characters, even though inside they are the same person. Who do you most identify with? Yoon Hyun Woo (the secretary) or Jin Do Joon (powerful family member)?

I think Yoon Hyun Woo. As Yoon Hyun Woo begins to live his life once again as Jin Do Joon, he thinks to himself, “This is what it’s like to live someone else’s life. So I have to live well in the reality in which I find myself”. In that sense, I think I was more immersed in Yoon Hyun Woo.

It has been 14 years since his acting debut. What is the biggest lesson you learned and what are your goals for the future?

The lessons I learned and my goals for the future align. I think the biggest lesson was realizing that working with good people brings good results, be they actors, crew members, the director or the screenwriter. My future goal is also to have fun working with good people.

Are there any types of roles you’d like to try but haven’t had the opportunity yet?

Fortunately, I think I’ve fulfilled my desire to take on all the roles I’ve wanted to try. So rather than there being a role that I want to try, I want to keep taking on projects with interesting narratives.

We want to know what’s on your playlist. Which artists do you most enjoy listening to?

I like listening to upbeat music, so I’ve been listening to Anderson Paak’s songs more. I also like songs by Shawn Mendes and Charlie Puth.
