Fans of the Sonic franchise were excited by the announcement that the villain Shadow would finally appear in “Sonic 3 “. In the film, the antagonist is voiced by Keanu Reeves 60, who didn’t need much to accept the role in the project.
“We had a Zoom meeting, in which we showed him all the technical work we developed for the film, such as storyboard, character design, and we tried to convey the mood of the character”, says the director Jeff Fowler the CNN .
Luckily for Jeff and the sequel team, the “Matrix” star quickly understood the villain’s proposal . “I think he understood what fans expect from the character, so when we came in to voice him and make the film, he gave us an incredible performance.”
He continued: “Keanu had done voice work before, so he knew how the process worked. So he was able to get into the dubbing booth and just have fun.”
In the new film, Sonic, Knuckles and Tails come together to face a fearsome enemy: Shadow, a mysterious villain with unprecedented powers, totally different from the challenges they have already faced. Using their unique abilities, Team Sonic will attempt to form an unexpected alliance with the goal of defeating Shadow and saving the planet.
Jim Carrey and James Marsden reprise their roles as Dr. Robotnik and Tom Wachowski, while Ben Schwartz, Idris Elba and Colleen O’Shaughnessey return to voice Sonic, Knuckles and Tails, respectively.
The big news comes from Keanu Reeves, who will be responsible for voicing the character Shadow. “Sonic 3: The Movie” hits theaters this Wednesday (25).
