Sony has introduced what it calls a wearable personal cinema. The device is called the Wireless Neckband Speaker (SRS-NS7) and is an unusual neckband speaker.
The new product supports spatial sound Sony 360 Spatial Sound Personalizer. Responsible for reproduction are two conventional 33 mm emitters and a pair of passive ones. The total power is 6 W.
The device connects to the source via Bluetooth 5.0. Although Sony is positioning the new product primarily for watching movies, it also notes that it can be used for voice calls and, for example, to listen to some content while doing other things.
At the same time, the device is protected from moisture (IPx4), the lower part is covered with a soft rubber layer, and the upper part is covered with fabric. Autonomy is declared equal to 12 hours, there is a quick charge (10 minutes is enough for 1 hour of operation). The Wireless Neckband Speaker measures 244 x 53 x 185 mm and weighs 319 g. Supports SBC, AAC and LDAC formats.
The cost of the device is $ 300. Sony also offers a $ 60 WLA-NS7 transmitter. It appears to be needed to provide 3D audio support for the Sony 360 Spatial Sound Personalizer.
