Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) announced that it has developed and launched a new plan to reduce plastic use. It is called Green Management 2025.
Among other things, it implies eliminating the use of plastic in new packaging for small products by 2025 and reducing its use by 10% in other product packaging.
In particular, the PlayStation 5 has already received the packaging corresponding to the new plan. Sony says that the packaging of the new console and its accessories is completely recyclable and contains only 1-7% plastic, depending on the product.
Sony also says it will test the inclusion of post-industrial recycled polypropylene in disc boxes in Europe this year.
