The Japanese company Sony is not very fast in updating its smartphones, but now Sony is offering owners of the Xperia 1 II and Xperia Pro the opportunity to update their phones to Android 12. This is the second batch of smartphones with Android 12 this year after the Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III, which were updated in February.
According to an XDA Developer post, the Android 12 update for the Xperia 1 II and Xperia Pro comes with a rather old January 2022 security patch. It’s also important to note that the Android 12 update is only available for the global version of the Xperia 1 II single SIM. On the other hand, dual-SIM Xperia PRO owners in the US are the only ones who have received the update, at least for now.
These updates are released in waves, so it usually takes a few days for them to become available to everyone.
