SOS for vaccinations in Serbia: No more than 5,000 a day

Serbia’s experts, as well as its government, express strong concern about the reduction of vaccinations in Serbia.

THE Serbia from the first place in Europe in the number of vaccinated held last February today is ranked among the countries with a low percentage of vaccinated in the general population. Thus, while in the EU on average 86.8 installments per hundred inhabitants have been given, this indicator in Serbia is 74.1 installments.

According to Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and the Athens News Agency, the percentage of vaccinated adults is 48.4%, which does not ensure – as she said – the protection of the population. Particularly disappointing is the situation among young people where only 17% between the ages of 18 and 30 have been vaccinated. In the last two weeks, the attendance of the people has dropped to alarming levels with them vaccinations not to exceed 5,000 per day.

Experts believe that the low response is due to various factors that have to do with the favorable course of the epidemiological situation, the spread of the false impression that the pandemic does not concern young people and the contradictory messages sent by the political leadership during crisis management. . The fact that in Serbia No strict restraint measures were imposed for financial reasons, and the authorities tolerated delinquent health measures even during the period of 8,000 daily cases. Many scientists even believe that even the possibility of citizens being able to be vaccinated whenever they want, as well as the choice of vaccine, has caused relief to many who have postponed their vaccination.

There has been no outbreak in Serbia yet pandemic given that the Delta mutation has not spread. According to the Ministry of Health, only two cases of the Delta mutation have been identified and they concern people who traveled abroad and who were isolated. Daily cases are kept low.

In the last 24 hours, 110 new cases were confirmed and three patients died from coronavirus complications. 286 patients are hospitalized in the reference hospitals, 8 of which are intubated.

The Public Health Committee estimates that the increase in new cases will probably start after a week when the daily cases are expected to exceed 150.
