All countries have an obligation to stop funding and to facilitate his military actions Israel at Gauze since the International Court of Hague stated that these actions could be genocidalits foreign minister said today South Africa Naledi Pandora.
The International Court of Hague ordered last week that Israel take all measures at its disposal to prevent its troops from committing genocide and take steps to improve the humanitarian situation of Palestinians in Gaza, in a case brought before the court by South Africa.
The court has not ordered a ceasefire, however, and has yet to rule on the merits of South Africa's appeal over whether genocide has been committed in Gaza.
As APE-MEP notes, South Africa has supported the Palestinian cause for decades, comparing the plight of Palestinians to that of black South Africans under apartheid. Israel denies accusations of genocide and rejects comparisons to the apartheid era.
“The findings (of the International Court of Justice) we believe make it clear that it is plausible that a genocide is taking place against the Palestinian people in Gaza,” Pandor told reporters.
“This necessarily imposes an obligation on all states to stop funding and facilitating Israel's military actions,” he said.
Five countries have confirmed that they are joining the BRICS 31 group
The South African Foreign Minister also stated that the Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates they confirmed that are part of the BRICS group of countries after the invitation they received last year.
The five countries received invitations along with Argentina at the August summit in Johannesburg to join the BRICS group consisting of Brazil, Russia, China, India and South Africa. Members of the group say the move will help reshuffle the world order they see as outdated.
Argentina subsequently declined the invitation to join.
“In terms of confirmations for BRICS, five out of six have confirmed. That is, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Ethiopia, Iran… and Egypt,” Pandor said at a press conference.
“Argentina has written to state that it will not act on this previous government's successful application to become a full member of BRICS and we accept its decision.”
