The General Prosecutor’s Office of the US state of South Carolina withdrew the lawsuit against Coinbase crypto officers, which was accused of illegal staiking and an offer of unregistered securities.

The main legal adviser to Coinbase Paul Grewal (Paul Grewal) wrote in X that the authorities of South Carolina rejected the claim after another state – Vermont. In 2023, ten states of the United States accused Coinbase of illegal provision of stakeing services. Earlier, the states of Alabam, California, Illinois, Kentukki, Maryland, New Jersey, Washington and Wisconsin filed a court on Coinbase.

Gruel hopes that other states will follow the example of South Carolina, because due to litigation with the exchange, the inhabitants of this state, according to the company’s estimates, lost about $ 2 million as a remuneration for staring. 52 million Americans owning cryptocurrencies deserve to be protected – they need clear rules for regulating cryptocurrencies, and Gruel insists.

“This is a victory not only for Coinbase, but also for American users. This is a sign that in those few states that prohibit stakeing, changes will soon come. We applaud South Carolina for defending justice and hope that the rest of the states will do the same, ”Gruel wrote.

In February, Coinbase received the approval of the UK financial supervision department (FCA) to work in the country as a supplier of virtual asset services (VASP). This happened six months after the end of the investigation against the local branch of Coinbase Payments.
