The South Korean health authorities announced today that as of midnight yesterday Sunday, 3,007 cases of SARS-CoV-2 were confirmed and 34 patients died due to complications of COVID-19.
The new coronavirus pandemic in the Southeast Asian country has reached 6,071 deaths since January 2020 out of a total of 667,390 infections, according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA). The mortality rate remained unchanged at 0.91%.
The number of cases decreased compared to the previous one (3,373), which is mainly due to the fact that fewer tests are performed on weekends. They remained below the 4,000 mark for the fourth consecutive 24 hours.
The number of patients admitted to hospitals in critical condition decreased to 786 (-35 in 24 hours).
86.4% (44.35 million out of a total of 52 million) of the population has received the first dose of vaccine, 83.9% (43.03 million) have been fully vaccinated, while 41% (21, 03 million) has now received a third, booster dose, according to the latest KDCA data.
