South Korean health officials announced today that as of midnight Monday, 3,865 cases of SARS-CoV-2 had been confirmed and 46 patients had died due to complications of COVID-19.
The pandemic count of the new coronavirus in the Southeast Asian country has reached 5,346 deaths since January 2020 out of a total of 615,532 confirmed infections, according to data from the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Service (KDCA). The mortality rate remained unchanged at 0.87%.
Cases decreased compared to the previous one (4,206), falling below the level of 4,000 for the first time in 28 days.
The number of critically ill patients increased to 1,102 (+24 in 24 hours).
4 cases of the Omicron variant have been identified; their total has reached 449. 266 are attributed to transmission to the community.
As of February 26, 85.8% of the population of 52 million have received the first dose of vaccine, 82.5% have been fully vaccinated, and 31.1% have received a booster dose, according to the latest KDCA data.
