South Korea: 57 deaths and more than 4,400 cases of coronavirus in 24 hours

South Korean health officials announced today that as of midnight Tuesday, 4,444 cases of SARS-CoV-2 had been confirmed and 57 patients had died due to complications of COVID-19.

The new coronavirus pandemic in Southeast Asia has reached 5,838 deaths since January 2020 out of a total of 649,669 infections, according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA). The mortality rate remained unchanged at 0.90%.

The cases increased compared to the previous one (3,024), mainly because more tests were performed.

The number of patients admitted to hospitals in critical condition decreased to 953 (-20 in 24 hours).

86.3% of the population of 52 million have received the first dose of vaccine, 83.2% have been fully vaccinated, while 37.7% have received a third, booster dose, according to KDCA data.
