South Korea: 73 deaths and more than 5,000 coronavirus cases in 24 hours

South Korean health authorities announced today that as of midnight Wednesday, 5,037 cases of SARS-CoV-2 had been confirmed and another 73 patients had died due to complications of COVID-19.

The pandemic count of the new coronavirus in the country of Southeast Asia has reached 5,455 deaths since January 2020 to a total of 625,967 confirmed infections, according to data from the Korea’s Disease Control and Prevention Service (KDCA). The mortality rate remained unchanged at 0.87%.

The cases decreased compared to the previous one (5,408), but remained above the limit of 5,000 for a second day.

The number of critically ill patients decreased to 1,145 (-6 in 24 hours).

67 cases of the Omicron variant have been identified; a total of 625 have been reported. 332 have been reported to the community.

As of February 26, 86% of the population of 52 million have received at least one first dose of vaccine, 82.7% have been fully vaccinated, and 33.4% have received a third, booster dose, according to the latest KDCA data. .
