South Korea: New President Says He Wants ‘Complete Nuclearization’ of North Korea

South Korea’s conservative new president, Yoon Sokgel, has been sworn in for five years after he was sworn in and said he would seek a “complete denuclearization” of North Korea. remains open as Pyongyang says it will accelerate and strengthen its nuclear and missile arsenal.

Mr Yoon, 61, described North Korea’s nuclear and ballistic missile development programs as a “threat not only to our own and Asia’s security” but to “global” security, saying “the door to dialogue is open”. will remain open so that we can resolve the problem “peacefully”.

Also in his first speech to parliament since taking office, the new president said he was prepared to present a “bold plan” to boost North Korea’s economy if his counterpart Kim Jong Un chooses the path of denuclearization.
