South Korean and US military high schools due to pandemic on a smaller scale

THE South Korea The United States will hold its annual joint military exercises next week, but on a smaller scale due to the coronavirus pandemic, the South Korean General Staff said today.

The 9th joint military exercise, which is set to begin on Monday, is still expected to spark outrage in North Korea, with Pyongyang stepping up its attack on high schools.

“The annual exercise (…) will be done by computer simulation”, will concern the “command” of the troops of the two countries and will have a “strictly defensive character”, the South Korean General Staff said in a press release issued.

These high schools, after the new Democratic president took power USAJoe Biden, will be held while the dialogue between Washington and Pyongyang has reached a deadlock after the last summit in Hanoi of Biden’s predecessor, Donald Trump, with Kim Jong Un in February 2019.

About 30,000 US troops remain deployed in South Korea.

Tens of thousands of South Korean soldiers take part in the annual joint high schools.

Some experts believe that Pyongyang may use these high schools to challenge and test the Biden government.
