South Korean actor Song Joong-ki married British actress Katy Louise Saunders on Monday (30) and the two are expecting a child, Song’s agency HighZium Studio told the CNN .
On a website for her fans, Song wrote, “Today we have just registered our marriage to begin our life as a couple based on deep trust and love.”
“I have sworn to live together with Katy Louise Saunders who has spent precious time with me supporting and caring for me,” he wrote. “She has a kind heart and has lived her life with passion. She is an admirably wise and wonderful person. Thanks to her, I am becoming a better person.”
In his message to fans, Song said that he and Saunders “dreamed of making a happy family”.
“Fortunately, a precious life has come to us,” he added.
Song was married to South Korean actress Song Hye-kyo for two years. The duo surprised millions of fans when they announced their divorce in 2019.
They rose to fame after playing lovers in the popular television series “Descendants of the Sun” in 2016.
After starting their real-life relationship, they earned the nickname “Song Song Couple” and were widely seen as Asia’s answer to American couples like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
