Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo, in the Southeast, as well as Goiás, in the Center-West, remain on red alert due to the risk of storms, which can cause landslides on slopes, flooding and river overflows, according to the National Institute. of Meteorology (Inmet) this Tuesday (11).
According to data released by the state Civil Defense of Rio de Janeiro, on Tuesday morning (11), the number of homeless people rose from 1,200 to 3,095 and the number of homeless people from 300 to 348.
The municipality of Natividade, in the northwest region of the state of Rio, declared a state of emergency. Houses were invaded by the mud and the damage is still being accounted for.
In Teresópolis, in the Serrana Region, a car was hit by a landslide, leaving two people slightly injured.
The accident happened in Vale da Revolta, at km 84 of the Rio-Bahia Highway (BR-116/RJ), on Monday night (10).
The victims were treated by firefighters and released. Civil Defense technicians are on site assessing the conditions on the stretch.
“We removed the 8 families preventively from the area around the landslide and returned to Vale da Revolta to continue the technical inspections and follow-up on CRT actions to release the lanes”, said Colonel Albert Andrade, municipal secretary of Civil Defense of Teresópolis.
The highway remains closed on Tuesday morning, between km 83 (Meudon) and km 89 (Soberbo), and traffic is diverted by the Federal Highway Police and Municipal Guard.
Teams from the Rio-Teresópolis Concessionaire (CRT) clean the lanes, but due to the continuation of the rains, there is no forecast for traffic release.
The forecast is for moderate to very heavy rain throughout the day, with the possibility of flooding, inundations and flash floods throughout Rio de Janeiro, especially in the Serrana, Northwest and North regions.
The areas on the border with Minas remain in attention due to the transhipment of the Muriaé River, in the municipalities of Patrocínio do Muriaé (MG), Carangola (MG), Porciúncula (RJ) and Cardoso Moreira (RJ).
Between Saturday (8) and Monday (10), the Rio de Janeiro Fire Department received over 200 occurrences related to rain in the state, with no fatalities.
