SP: 21 cities are in a state of emergency due to dengue

According to data from the São Paulo State Health Department, the number of cities that declared an emergency due to dengue cases rose to 21.

Throughout the state, 7,201 probable cases of the disease were recorded in the first epidemiological week, between December 29, 2024 and January 4 of this year.

In a note, SES-SP also reported that “continuously monitors cases of dengue and other arboviruses in the state, monitoring important indicators for evaluating the behavior of the epidemic and making the results available through bulletins and information panels on the website. portal of the Center for Strategic Health Information”.

To date, the municipalities that have already declared a dengue emergency in the state of São Paulo are:

  • Igaratá;
  • Indiaporã;
  • Jacareí;
  • Marinopolis;

  • Potirendaba;
  • Ribeira;
  • Rubineia;
  • San Francisco;
  • São José Do Rio Preto;
  • São José Dos Campos;

  • Tanabi

The increase is 9.45% compared to the same period last year when 6,579 probable cases of the disease were recorded.

The Ministry of Health announced last Thursday (9), the installation of the Health Emergency Operations Center (COE) for Dengue and other Arboviruses in São Paulo. The objective is to ensure adequate preparation to contain the spread of the disease.

The ministry also released the National Containment Plan for Dengue and other Arboviruses. The significant increase in dengue virus serotype 3 is one of the concerns for 2025.

In 2024, Brazil recorded 6.6 million probable cases of dengue and 6 thousand deaths, according to the Ministry’s arbovirus case update panel.

As of Wednesday (8), 10,100 probable cases were reported and another 10 deaths are under investigation, all from 2025.
