The Washington Post reports, quoting the mayor of Kiev on Friday, that “an air raid siren went off around 7am local time and at least one residential building in the capital caught fire after being hit by rocket debris“.
This comes after multiple explosions were heard earlier in the day.
A senior Ukrainian defense official has said that Russian forces were near the town of Vorzel, about 20 kilometers northwest of Kievaccording to the Washington Post.
Ukrainian media also report that Russian forces have entered the Obolon district of Kiev, about 10 km from the city center.
In addition to this, the Russian News Agency, RIA, is stating that shots are being reported near the government district of Kiev.

In response to the closure of Russia’s airspace to the UK, British Defense Secretary Robert Wallace has said that “Russian restrictions on UK airlines are retaliation for our moves against Aeroflot“.
