S&P 500 Index hits new all-time high above 4,540

The main Wall Street indices They opened higher on Thursday as risk flows continue to dominate financial markets. At time of writing, the S&P 500 was at an all-time high of 4,542, up 0.4% on the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.36% at 35,444, and the Nasdaq Composite was up 0.4% at 15,370.

Earlier in the day, US data showed that Challenger job cuts declined to their lowest level since 1997 at 15,723 in August. Additionally, initial jobless claims fell to 340,000 in the week ending August 28 and unit labor costs rose 1.3% in the second quarter.

All major sectors of the S&P 500 are trading in positive territory after the opening bell, with the energy index rising 1.6% as the biggest winner. On the other hand, the defensive Real Estate has risen only 0.05%.
