S&P 500 opens higher on rising energy stocks

The Major US stock indices have opened higher Wednesday amid a modest improvement in risk sentiment. At the time of writing, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 0.55% on the day at 32,606, the S&P 500 Index is up 0.47% at 3,928, and the Nasdaq Composite is up 0.2% at 13,040.

Among the top 11 sectors of the S&P 500, the energy sector index rises 2.5% on the day supported by a 3.85% increase observed in crude oil prices. What’s more, the financial index is up 1.25%while the benchmark 10-year US Treasury yield increased 1% after a two-day downward correction.

On the other hand, defensive sectors, such as utilities and real estate indices, both trade in negative territory after the opening bell.
