The document points out that during the program’s trajectory, the number of inspections grew almost 1,000% (988%: from 52 to 566 in 2024) and the volume of drivers supervised almost 5,000% (4,973%: from 7,930 to 402,285 in the year past).
In August last year, almost 1,400 fines were applied due to traffic alcohol consumption in São Paulo.
It is worth remembering that the famous Operation Prohibition, created after Bill 11.705, is from 2008, so it is different from that performed by Detran-SP.

Already in cases of drunk driving, when drivers have an index from 0.34 milligrams of alcohol per liter of air, presented in the alcohol test, are considered traffic crimes. Drivers caught in this situation are taken to the police district.
If they are convicted, in addition to a fine of R $ 2,934.70 and the CNH suspension, they will be able to comply with six months to three years in prison, as provided for in the Prohibition, also known as “zero tolerance”.
“It is important to feel safe and in a responsible operation. There are citizens who thank us, say that we are right and that they have drank, they are wrong. After all, we do not have any rights of anyone. From the moment a person drinks, he loses the right to drive. But there are those who react badly, ”says Maria Eugenia Junqueira, leader at the Ribeirão Preto Superintendence of Detran-SP.
Still, with regard to direction under the influence of alcohol, when there is a new occurrence of infringement during the period of suspension of the driver’s license, in addition to the duplicate fine, the driver will respond to administrative proceedings, which may result in the revocation of the right to drive .
In this case, the driver will be submitted to the rehabilitation process to drive again and only after a period of 24 months after the revocation.
