The government of São Paulo demanded, on Wednesday (8), that the federal government adopt the requirement of a passport for the vaccine for people arriving in Brazil.
At a press conference at Palácio dos Bandeirantes, Governor João Doria announced that a letter was sent to the Ministry of Health asking for the immediate implementation of the need to prove vaccination for travelers entering the country.
“We have the largest port in Latin America and the largest airport in South America. São Paulo is the largest entry of foreigners into the country, receiving more than a third of international flights arriving in Brazil. There is no reason for the government to deny or not move forward, except for political or ideological reasons, as there is no health reason”, declared Doria.
The government of São Paulo also announced that the Butantan Institute will forward to Anvisa a request to apply the Coronavac vaccine to children aged 3 to 11 years. “São Paulo has reserved 12 million doses of Coronvac for this application,” said Doria.
The governor highlighted that China, Philippines, Malaysia, Chile and Ecuador already apply the immunizing agent against Covid-19 produced by Sinovac in this age group. “Butantan understands that it is time to start vaccinating children in Brazil,” he said.
