The Civil Defense of São Paulo has extended the high risk alert for fires in the state until next Friday (6). The extension was decreed this Tuesday (3).
The alert was valid until today, but was renewed in the North, Northwest and West regions of SP due to the adverse weather conditions in the coming days.
The agency released new Risk Maps, which help monitor fires during the dry season. The graphs divide the risk into four levels: low, high, alert and emergency.
See the forecasts until Friday (6):
The maps show that areas at risk of fire emergencies are expected to increase by Wednesday (4) and decrease by Friday.
The heat wave forecast for this week could contribute to the occurrence of fires in the state. According to the Civil Defense, the cities of Presidente Prudente, Araçatuba, Tupã, Birigui and Martinópolis could record temperatures of up to 39°C.
In addition to the high maximum, relative humidity should reach critical levels, varying between 13% and 15%.
The government of São Paulo has closed 80 parks due to forest fires in the state. The announcement was made this Sunday (1). The decision was made in response to the growing risk of forest fires, which puts both visitors and conservation areas at risk.
Civil Defense reports that 48 cities still remain on maximum alert for fires in SP.
