The beaches on the coast of São Paulo are full this Saturday (20), despite the warning issued by civil defense for intense rains, with the possibility of winds, flooding and landslides in several regions of the state during the weekend.
Baixada Santista and the North Coast are among the areas that are expected to be most affected by the storm.
In Caraguatatuba, on the north coast of São Paulo, bathers have been enjoying the beach since early in the morning. The team at CNN visited some of the favorite spots among tourists, such as Praia de Martim Sá and Prainha, where we found a scene of normality.
Cook Giovana Miciano lives in São José dos Campos and decided to go to the beach today. She claims that she was not aware of the alert issued by civil defense. “If we had seen it, I don't think we would have even come, because we know we have to get on the road to get back”, she pondered.
Marli Soares Lima, is an artisan in Cedral, in the interior of São Paulo, and decided to go to the north coast, even though she was aware of the possibility of intense rain. “We get smarter to leave early,” she said.
A crisis office has been installed since last Thursday (18) in the city of São Sebastião, also on the north coast of the state. According to Mayor Felipe Augusto (PSDB), municipal management monitors weather conditions and remains on alert for possible serious occurrences, although the municipality is holding several parties in honor of the patron saint, after whom the city is named, throughout this Saturday.
In Praia Grande, in Baixada Santista, the beaches are also busy. According to firefighters, this afternoon, four people were struck by lightning while they were on the sand near Vila Caiçara. One of them is in serious condition.
