The São Paulo Court suspended, this Wednesday (13), in an injunction, the bill that obliges bars and restaurants in the state of São Paulo to offer free filtered water to customers.
The PL had been sanctioned on Tuesday (12) and the measure published this Wednesday in the state’s Official Gazette.
According to the decision of the São Paulo Court of Justice, granting the injunction is “plausible”, “especially given not only the increased cost, but the decrease in revenue from the sale of drinks”.
The proposal, approved by the São Paulo State Assembly (Alesp) on the 30th and sanctioned by governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), determined that “bars, restaurants, snack bars, bakeries and similar establishments” in the state were obliged to serve “free filtered drinking water” for customers.
The São Paulo government told the CNN which has not yet been notified of the decision.
