The Civil Police arrested a 53-year-old man in the early hours of this Sunday (14), after his daughter died from an accidental shot fired inside the family home in Bragança Paulista, in the interior of São Paulo.
According to the Public Security Department, the weapon belonged to the father of the nine-year-old child, who did not have regular authorization to possess a weapon.
After the incident, the parents took the girl to Santa Casa de Itatiba, but she did not survive and died in the unit.
Authorities did not disclose how the incident occurred. At the scene, ammunition of calibers 38 and 12 were seized, along with the firearm.
The victim’s father will be charged with the crimes of manslaughter against a minor under 14 years of age and illegal possession of a permitted firearm.
