The São Paulo government holds the “D -re D” of flu vaccination all 645 cities in São Paulo this Saturday (10). The campaign seeks to expand vaccination coverage and reinforce the importance of immunization against the disease.
This Saturday’s action is focused on 19.3 million people from priority groups : Children up to 6 years old, pregnant women, postpartums, people with comorbidities and the elderly, who are most vulnerable to the virus.
The goal of the State Department of Health (SES), which runs the campaign, is reach 90% vaccination coverage among eligible groups (children, pregnant women and the elderly). Current coverage between these groups in the state is 16.1%.
According to the government, the vaccine protection duration is about a year, depending on each person’s immune response. Therefore, the State emphasizes the importance of annual vaccination, since The virus changes frequently and the vaccine is updated to accompany the variations.
